Sweet, Zesty & No-Bake Fun
Every once in a while, I like to make something that feels a little fun and unexpected—something that makes people do a double take and say, “Wait… what is that?” These Margarita Balls are exactly that kind of treat.
I first made these when I wanted something quick, no-bake, and a little different from the usual desserts. Living here in Tucson, citrus flavors are just part of life—lime especially—and this recipe really leans into that bright, fresh taste. It’s sweet, a little tangy, and just playful enough to feel like a treat for grown-ups.
What I love most is how simple it is. No oven, no complicated steps—just mix, roll, chill, and you’ve got something special to share. It’s a good reminder that joy doesn’t have to be complicated. Ecclesiastes 8:15 says, “So I commend the enjoyment of life…” And sometimes, that looks like a little sweet bite with a hint of lime and laughter around the table.
These Margarita Balls are creamy, citrusy, and perfectly sweet with a hint of lime and a touch of tequila flavor. They’re a fun, no-bake dessert that’s perfect for gatherings, holidays, or just when you want something a little different.
Ingredients:
• 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
• 1/4 cup lime juice
• 2 cups powdered sugar
• 2 tbsp tequila
• 2 tbsp orange liqueur (such as Triple Sec)
• 3 cups vanilla wafer crumbs
• 1/2 cup white sugar
• Lime zest (for coating)
How to Make It:
In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese, lime juice, powdered sugar, tequila, and orange liqueur until smooth and creamy.
Stir in the vanilla wafer crumbs until the mixture becomes thick and sticky.
Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
In a small bowl, mix the white sugar with lime zest, then roll each ball in the mixture to coat.
Place the balls on a tray and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
Serve chilled and enjoy that bright, citrusy flavor in every bite!
• If the mixture feels too soft to roll, chill it for a bit first—makes it much easier.
• Fresh lime zest really makes the flavor pop—don’t skip it if you can.
• You can adjust the sweetness by adding a little more or less powdered sugar.
• These are great for parties—easy to make ahead and serve.
• Keep refrigerated until serving so they hold their shape.
