Rich, hearty, and slow-simmered — the kind of sauce that tastes like it’s been passed down for generations

There’s something about a pot of spaghetti sauce bubbling on the stove that just feels like home.

It’s not fancy. It’s not complicated.

But it fills the whole house with that warm, comforting smell that says, “Dinner’s gonna be good tonight.”

This is one of those recipes that doesn’t rush.

It simmers, it deepens, it gets better with time… just like the best kitchen memories.

And honestly? This is the sauce that makes people go back for seconds (and maybe thirds 😉).

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • Salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • 1 medium onion, chopped

  • 15 oz tomato sauce

  • 6 oz tomato paste

  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley flakes

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • Crushed red pepper flakes, to taste

  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 Tbsp granulated sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (optional)

  • Spaghetti noodles, for serving

Instructions

  1. Season ground beef with salt and pepper.

  2. In a large skillet, brown the beef with chopped onion until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.

  3. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, parsley, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, Worcestershire sauce, and sugar. Stir well to combine.

  4. Bring to a gentle boil, then add water and stir again.

  5. Reduce heat and let simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Stir in fresh basil just before serving, if using.

Serve over cooked spaghetti noodles and enjoy.

Tips & Little Upgrades

Want deeper flavor?

Let it simmer a little longer if you’ve got the time—this sauce just keeps getting better.

Make it your own

Add mushrooms, bell peppers, or even a pinch more red pepper flakes if your family likes a little kick.

Freezer friendly

This sauce freezes beautifully—make a double batch and thank yourself later.

A Little Kitchen Moment

This is the kind of meal that doesn’t need an occasion.

It’s Tuesday night. It’s busy. It’s real life.

But when everyone sits down to a bowl of spaghetti with a sauce like this…

suddenly it feels a little more special.

And those are the moments that stick.
