Some nights you just need a dinner that’s quick, filling, and tastes like you spent way more time cooking than you actually did.

That’s exactly why this Ground Beef & Broccoli recipe has become one of my favorite busy-night meals. It’s loaded with savory garlic-ginger flavor, coated in a glossy homemade sauce, and comes together fast with simple ingredients I usually already have sitting in the kitchen.

I love recipes like this because they feel like comfort food without requiring a giant grocery trip or a sink full of dishes afterward. Around here, this is one of those “everybody grabs seconds” meals — especially served over a big scoop of warm rice.

And honestly? The homemade sauce is the real star. Sweet, savory, rich, and silky with just a little kick from the red pepper flakes. It tastes like takeout in the best possible way.

This Ground Beef & Broccoli is fast, flavorful, budget-friendly, and perfect for weeknight dinners when you want something hearty without spending all evening cooking.

For the Sauce:

  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • 1/3 cup water

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (or honey or brown sugar)

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

For the Stir Fry:

  • 2 tbsp canola oil (divided)

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 3 cups broccoli florets

  • 2 tbsp fresh ginger

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes

  • Green onions

  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)

  • Rice for serving

Instructions:

  1. Whisk sauce ingredients until smooth.

  2. Cook beef with salt & pepper 5–7 minutes; remove.

  3. Cook broccoli 3–4 minutes until crisp-tender.

  4. Add ginger, garlic, red pepper flakes; cook 30–60 seconds.

  5. Return beef, add sauce and green onion whites.

  6. Toss 1–2 minutes until thick and glossy.

Serve hot over rice and top with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

  • Don’t overcook the broccoli — keeping it slightly crisp gives the best texture.

  • Ground turkey works great if you want a lighter version.

  • Add mushrooms, bell peppers, or snap peas for extra veggies.

  • A drizzle of sriracha adds a nice spicy kick.

  • This meal reheats beautifully for lunch the next day.
