Classic, Cozy & Always a Hit
There are certain dishes that just belong on the table, no questions asked—and green bean casserole is one of those in my house. Whether it’s a holiday, a Sunday dinner, or one of those “let’s make something comforting” kind of days, this dish always shows up and always disappears.
I remember the first time I made it on my own, trying to recreate that familiar flavor with simple ingredients I already had in the pantry. That’s what I love most about this recipe—it doesn’t ask for anything fancy. Just a few basics, a warm oven, and a little bit of time.
Here in Tucson, even when it’s not exactly “cold weather,” we still crave those cozy, comforting sides that remind us of family and togetherness. And this casserole does just that. It’s simple, dependable, and made to share—just like so many of the meals we hold onto.
It always brings me back to the idea of gathering and gratitude. Psalm 107:8 says, “Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.” And honestly, sitting around the table with something warm and homemade feels like one of those simple blessings.
This Easy Green Bean Casserole is creamy, savory, and topped with those crispy fried onions that make it irresistible. It’s quick to put together and perfect for holidays or everyday meals when you want something comforting without the fuss.
Ingredients:
• 24 oz frozen green beans
• 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
• 1/2 cup milk
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/2 tsp pepper
• 6 oz French fried onions
How to Make It:
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
In a large bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.
Stir in the frozen green beans and half of the French fried onions.
Pour the mixture into a casserole dish and spread evenly.
Bake for 30 minutes until hot and bubbly.
Remove from the oven, stir gently, then top with the remaining fried onions.
Return to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes, until the top is golden and crispy.
Serve warm and watch it disappear—this one’s always a crowd favorite!
• No need to thaw the green beans—they cook perfectly in the oven.
• Add a little extra milk if you like a creamier texture.
• Don’t skip the second bake with the onions—that’s what gives it that classic crunch.
• You can prep this ahead of time and bake when ready.
• Great for holidays, but easy enough for any weeknight dinner.
