Fresh, Light & Family-Approved
Around here in Tucson, guacamole is basically a love language. Whether it’s taco night, carne asada with the family, or just me and my daughter sitting at the table with chips and laughter, there’s almost always a bowl of something green in the middle.
This version came from one of those “let me try something different” moments in my kitchen. I had ripe avocados ready to go—but also a container of cottage cheese that needed to be used. I wasn’t sure at first… but let me tell you, it turned into something so creamy, so fresh, and surprisingly satisfying.
It’s a little lighter, a little extra protein-packed, and still gives you that classic guacamole comfort. And honestly, it reminded me how sometimes the best things come from simple, unexpected combinations.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good…” — Romans 8:28
Even in the kitchen, a little creativity can turn into something really good.
This creamy cottage cheese guacamole blends rich avocado with a smooth, slightly tangy twist. It’s perfect for dipping, spreading, or scooping straight from the bowl (no judgment here!).
Ingredients:
• 6 ripe avocados
• 24 oz small-curd cottage cheese
• 3–5 tbsp bottled lime juice
• 1–1 1/2 tsp salt
• Optional add-ins: garlic powder, cumin, cilantro, tomato
How to Make It:
Cut avocados, remove pits, and scoop into a large bowl.
Add 1 tsp salt and about 3 tbsp lime juice.
Mash until mostly smooth, leaving a little texture.
Gently fold in the cottage cheese.
Taste and adjust with more salt and lime juice as needed.
Stir in any optional add-ins if you’d like to customize it.
Serve immediately for the freshest flavor.
You’ll end up with a creamy, slightly fluffy guacamole that still has that fresh, bright avocado taste—but with a little extra richness and protein.
• Use ripe avocados—they should give slightly when pressed.
• Start light on the lime and salt, then adjust to your taste.
• For a smoother texture, you can lightly blend the cottage cheese before mixing.
• Add diced tomato and cilantro for a more traditional guacamole feel.
• This is best enjoyed fresh, but you can press plastic wrap directly on top to slow browning.
